Aperol
The past decade has seen an explosion in the popularity of Aperol, and all thanks to one all conquering pre-dinner drink; the Aperol Spritz.
Aperol
But what exactly is Aperol? A very good question. We thought you’d never ask. Aperol was born when Italian brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri inherited their father’s liquor company in 1912. Determined to create the perfect appetite-whetting aperitif, the brothers experimented for seven years, finally landing on the exact recipe that still reigns supreme today. Mixed with 3 parts prosecco, a splash of soda, and an orange wedge, the drink was an instant hit and has barely taken a backwards step since. The recipe is a closely guarded secret, but we can tell you it includes both sweet and bitter orange varieties, as well as fresh rhubarb.
