Malbec might not be the household name it is today if it weren’t for Argentina. Widely dismissed as a second-tier grape in France, the Argentinian region of Mendoza rescued and elevated Malbec – quite literally. The fertile soil and high altitudes proved to be the ideal conditions for the grape to flourish, and having been first imported by Migel Pouget in 1868, Malbec grew to become Argentina's main wine export.
Other grapes have found an overseas home in Mendoza, too. Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Tempranillo all thrive in various parts of the region. Our collection showcases a little bit of everything, with an emphasis on bold flavours. For classical Malbec, we recommend trying an easygoing Trivento or a Finca Agostina, which will do well with a bit of steak or rich sauces.
